The conventional suburban landscape is segregated, dull, auto-dependent and environmentally destructive. Avalon envisions compact new neighbourhoods that are earth-friendly and diverse, where people of all ages, abilities and income levels can live, work and play. These are open communities engaged in learning, where visitors are welcome, with a balance of social connection and individual space.  This renaissance of community life is being successfully demonstrated in thousands of new ecovillages, mixed-use town centres and sustainable city initiatives all over the world.

We are launching Kelowna’s first sustainable community project, Avalon Ecovillage. Our vision for an expanded campus village includes an applied educational institute for sustainable development and technology. Avalon offers professional sustainability consulting, design-build services, experimental research, educational programs and training to both the public and private sectors.  In addition to our environmental management and planning professionals, we have a growing consortium of local and international technology partners, Avalon Green Builder’s Guild.  Our areas of specialization include:   sustainable community planning and design, best practices for green building construction, new energy and water technologies, healthy homes and workplaces, organic agriculture and environmental stewardship.  Our project consulting services are also available to assist ethical organizations that are working abroad.
